McDonalds to be Torn Down and Rebuilt

Bedford’s McDonalds located at 346 Great Road is scheduled to be torn down this fall.

The McDonalds, which was built in 1971 is one of the oldest in the state. The new McDonalds will feature dual drive thru lanes. As far as the interior, I am expecting the new restaurant will follow McDonalds new three zone design philosophy. Each zone caters to a different audience. The first zone features comfy sofas and chairs with free Wi-Fi and looks similar to Starbucks. The second zone includes Wide Screen Plasma TV’s and is designed for people who eat alone. The third zone is made up mostly of booths and is most similar to the existing design. It is expected that McDonalds will be closed for about 3 months while the new building is being built.

Ok, I've lived in Bedford for over 10 years and I've never been in that McDonalds. So maybe I'm not qualified to comment...
- if it's one of the oldest in the state, shouldn't the historic comission be involved?
- three zones? how do you know about this? I think you spend too much time studying mass-market phenomena, you need to get out on your bike more.
- how will increased business at that McDonalds retail location affect business elsewhere in town? I guess the other sandwich shops should be concerned, but then again the regular clientele may have already chosen their favorite venue.
- in general I'm not in favor of tearing things down in order to replace them with another thing to serve the same purpose - especially if it aims to gain share from established local businesses at the same time. On the other hand, having had a brief stint in the food service industry I can report firsthand how disgustingly dirty a brand new operation can become in a short period of time. Just think what must be festering out of sight in that circa-1971 building...

Any chance they're going to put in one of those indoor playzones? (We're vegetarians, so we've only been to that McDonald's once in ten years, to try their breakfast sandwiches... but if it had a playzone, something the other sandwich shops in town don't have, we would definitely visit more.)

Hi Xine,

From what I have seen, there is not enough room to build an indoor playplace or outdoor playland.

There is a McDonalds in Orlando Florida that has the largest playplace in the world - it has a 60-foot superslide.

McDonalds is also rolling out R Gym which includes stationary
bicycles tied in to video games, dance pads, basketball hoops, monkey bars, an obstacle course and more.

However, if you have a good credit and 1 hour payday loans no credit check can choose among two options, anyway payday loans have more benefits to enjoy. First of all, they are much easier to get, which helps to avoid hassle. When you have urgent problems, and same day payday loans no credit check can’t wait till the payday, you don’t have time to wait till the bank decides whether your credit rating is enough good or not to approve your credit.
